A 2015 government survey showed that over 3,600 tons of food waste is produced in Hong Kong every day, which is equivalent to the weight of 312 double-decker buses!

On 3 and 6 May, Hong Kong's Hang Lung As One volunteer team launched its first Food Waste Education Program together with local green organization, Food Grace. Volunteers and 40 primary school students took part in a series of interactive activities which enabled them to better understand the concept of food waste and the importance of waste reduction in our daily lives. The activities included a seminar on food wastage, cooking with surplus food from the market, visiting an aquaponics system, farming experience and DIY with food waste workshops. Assistant Director (Project Construction), Wilfred Kam, supported the program and selected the best student group project design on food waste reduction, bringing the program to a perfect ending.
